Today, I found out we won our election for Cuyahoga County Council in arguably one of the closest races in Cuyahoga County history. Ultimately, the race was decided by 245 votes out of over 62,000 cast. Indeed, your vote matters, your voice counts—and your hard work paid off.

Boosted by ‘Pride Caucus,’ five of 15 LGBTQ+ candidates in Ohio elected in 2024

A political group aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ Ohioans says 46 members of the minority community ran for elected office across the state in the last two general elections.

Named the “Pride Caucus,” the organization aided 31 LGBTQ+ candidates in 2023’s elections and 15 on the ballot last November. The group was founded nearly two years ago with a mission to identify, train and fundraise for LGBTQ+ Ohioans who want to become activists, campaign volunteers and elected leaders..

…Of those 15 in 2024, five candidates successfully won their races: Shawn Dingus for judge in Ohio’s 10th District Court of Appeals, Charmaine McGuffey’s for Hamilton County sheriff, Nathaniel Overmire for Franklin County coroner, Taylor Sappington for Athens County treasurer, and Robert Schleper for Cuyahoga County Council..
